Hoho. Feminism bites back.
Funny, I thought we're living in the 21st century, about 200 years since feminism first shook males and their their perfect little capitalist world by storm. Yep. Women's LIberation first took place in the 19th century.
Oh, you don't see the humour?
The funny thing is, ladies and gentlemen, is that despite what our "foremothers" have fought for, little much has changed in our society today. There still exists, unfortunately, a very large percentage of males (I wouldn't give them the hounour of being called men because, hah, real men have balls) who still dictates that the woman's place in society is in the kitchen, as "domesticated" slaves, and/or, as an object to satisfy their lust and greed. And of course, to bear them children.
They call it love. But honestly, call me a bigot, but that is slavery.
If shit was sugar-coated with wild strawberries and pretty pink icing, the fact remains, that on the inside, no one can deny that it is, in fact, shit.
However, let's not get flustered just yet, as it is, I've barely begun my tirade.
Firstly, I'd have to confess that if it wasn't for the way I've been brought up, I doubt I'd have been such an advocate of feminism and human rights as I am now.
And I do understand that families with housewife mothers see absolutely nothing wrong with aspiring to become houswives when they grow older.
Call me an idealist, but damned, I had hoped that the world would have at least, gotten a little bit cleverer after the turn of the millenium. But there it is, and there's nothing I can change about how conservative people think.
Hoho, but I didn't say there's nothing I can comment on about that .
I'm sorry, but I simply cannot respect people who use various sources without understanding fully what it means! It's like attempting to comment on a Shakespearen play when you barely know 6 words in English!
Ohhh but yesss! It just so happens that the 6 words you know are "To be or not to be". And since you know that famous, famous line from Hamlet (oh, nono, you thought it was macbeth? You poor poor chicken, it's Hamlet, my dear) Well, just because a person can say that phrase, he is automatically qualified as an expert in Shakespearen plays.
A bit far-fetched don't you think?
But think about it. How many unqualified people out there spout out teachings and sayings from wherever without truly understanding the meaning behind it?
.. You wouldn't even be able to count it with your fingers. That is, unless you had about a billion fingers, of course.
Just to illustrate this point.
Read the following excerpt;
And there, in the corner of the room, I saw a huge chunk of diamond nearly touching the ceiling of the room.
Question: Was the diamond really that big?
And then this following one;
And there, in the corner of the room, I saw a huge chunk of diamond nearly touching the ceiling of the room. It was glistening and melting from the heat of the African sun that shone through the crack of the window.
Question: Can a diamond melt?
And this final one;
And there, in a box in the corner of the room, I saw a huge chunk of diamond nearly touching the ceiling of the room. It was glistening and melting from the heat of the African sun that shone through the crack of the window. Parched, I immediately got my hammer and hacked off a piece near the top, dropped it into my last mug of soda. Who would have thought that Ol Krom kept a cooler in the middle of the Sahara?
Question: So what was the chunk of diamond?
Do you realise that had one totally ignored the rest of the story, one would have, undoubtedly believed that there exists a diamond as big as that?
Ahh, I digress, so, what I've been trying to illustrate is simply, that the words or phrases one picks up randomly from books or other sources, need not necessarily encompass the whole meaning behind it.
This, I bring up, in response to certain unfortunate souls who happen to love using sources from the religion in order to support his wrong and ultimately backward opinions; which in this case, is that "the woman's place is in the kitchen".
Frankly, I wouldn't have been so perturbed by this had it only been males who have this crazy idea. But what disappoints me is that successful, intelligent women are fully prepared to give up their careers (despite them earning more than their significant other) just so they can fluff up their male's pillows and bear his unfortunate bunch.
Traditionally, yes, this might have been the role of women, but by subjecting women to rules and regulations that even my own grandmother no longer adheres to .. .. honestly, does time go forward or backward?
While some may argue that women cannot be accepted as equals because they are made inferior to men, as decreed by our religion, I am no prophet to refute that. Besides, I never said women were vying to be men's equal anyway.
What I'm trying to say, though is that women are humans as well, creatures of god, and in a matter of hierarchy of creatures, humans, no matter what colour, what shape or what gender, do indeed have the same right. And that is, a right to live their own life.
My view, simply, is this; women, while inferior to men, are created to be men's companions, and not, this I must highlight, and NOT as a subset of men's ego, and NOT, also, as slaves of men.
Thus, really, what is all that wrong with educated women who work to earn their own living?
