And reminiscing about the road trips all those years ago.

Well it's true, isn't it.
No matter how much money you've got, death doesn't hold any reservations when your time's up.
But anyway, that's not the point.
Don't deny it,
everyone of us has had our fat days.
There are some days where it doesn't matter what you wear, how much make-up you put on,
the fact remains that everytime you look in the mirror, you see a fat person looking back.
And it totally has no links whatsoever to the number on the weighing scale when you step on it.
It's untrue that skinny people don't experience fat days.
In fact, for all you know, they're skinny because they have fat days.
Everytime they look in the mirror, they feel unpretty, they feel like, they need to lose more weight to feel prettier.
They think that if they're thinner, all the guys will like them.
What is it about the society that prides itself on being educated and having a sound moral standing on issues such as global warming?
While yes, global warming is a pressing issue, social issues such as weight obsession should not be deemed as negligible.
Take a day off in town.
Just sit, somewhere, in a busy part of town, and watch all these people go by.
You can practically pick out people who are in dire need of more fat in their bodies.
But sadly, these are the people with so-called 'normal weight'.
If underweight midgets are deemed as normal, then what am I?
Surely, not the dreaded word, *gasp* "FAT" ??
A friend of mine once commented that she hates to go shopping
because the sizes of the clothes are ridiculously small they make her feel like an obese farmwife.
That is not meant to be an insult to farmwives, but you get the picture?
She's not the only one in the predicament.
There are so many times in my shopping experience that I've to come out of the dressing room and ask for a bigger size before making my purchase.
Am I growing fat or are the women clothes shrinking?
One day, I was meeting my mum after my piano lesson, so I was sitting under a tree, staring blankly.
And she approched me from behind, hesitantly.
And then she had a look of disbelief on her face.
She said,
"Yknow, as I was walking, initially I thought it was you.. but I kept telling myself, no, my daughter can't possibly be that fat!"
I was shocked beyond words.
My own mother thinks I'm fat!
For every other girl, this comment would surely have spurred her to starve herself for a whole week and exercise like mad.
But I was fine.
I'm not trying to say I wasn't hurt, but I surely did not start dieting pronto.
Maybe it's because everytime I look at my own reflection, I'm fine with it.
I don't see a terribly obese girl with weight problems affecting her ability to walk.
I know I don't overeat, I don't starve myself and I certainly do a fair amount of exercise , what with frequent gym visits and dates with the redhot track.
So okay, maybe I've got more flesh than bones on me,
Maybe you see boobs instaed of my ribcage sticking out,
maybe my butt is full instead of the sunken bony excuses for an ass some people have.
But what does it matter?
I'm healthy!
Even according to height for weight charts, I'm healthy!
But apparently that ain't enough anymore.
Live your own misery-filled life if you want.
Don't drag me into it.

I watched Ocean's Thirteen yesterday. Midnight movie!
Blame it on impulsive indulgence.
And like, ohmygod, I loved it.

Anyway, apart from the queasiness from watching it too close, it was great.
It's not exactly the type of movie that I'd catch in a cinema but I'm glad I did.
Apparently Pirates of the Carribean is still showing so maybe I'd drag Shirin to catch it one of these days, (negative criticisms or no)! (:

The movie ended at about 2.30am but by the time we left TM, it was about 3am.

But we did have some spare cash to hail a cab in case we're tired.
But we never did hail that cab, so walk we did.
We clocked about 1 hour.
Yes. It takes one hour to walk from TM to my house.

There was a time, a long long long time ago, when the words "run" and "fun" were more than just rhyming words to me.
Yes, as insane as it sounds, there was a time when I used to think running was actually fun.
And then something happened between then and now.
And now, running=torture does not even begin to describe it.
I get all kinds of twists and knots in my stomach if I knew I'd have to run that day.

I was running into my 4th round.
Almost getting over the shock that "WOW! I am running 4 rounds on the track for the first time in forever!", and was slowly getting used to the rhythm.

And I got to thinking about the "Excuse me, do you mind not talking?" I said to the group of kids who took my table in the library and dared to make noise.
I mean, seriously, of all the tables in the fuckin library, why do they always without fail, take mine?
And they had the gall to make noise.
I'm not some bitchy PMS-ing librarian who says "SSHHHHH!" like there's no tomorrow, because I really don't mind if they were discussing about their studies.

I waited for more than 5 minutes, turning around to look at them constantly to drop subtle hints.
And they seemed to be getting louder.

So I ignored them and continued running.
A man running next to me was kind enough to kick it back
(although I know, secretly, he was relishing the joy of kicking ball again, reliving his time as the KAKA of Serangoon, hahahaha, i'm sure)
But kicking the ball back to them was a futile effort.
They wanted to play ball, but were too lazy to get it when it rolled away.
Needless to say, in my fifth round, they proceeded to scream at least about 5 more times.

Anyway, I was half-sleeping on the bus (as usual) when I noticed all the commuters in front of me turn like, 90 degrees and gaped at something on the left.
As I turned, to my extreme horror+disgust+amazement+outrage+whateverelse, I noticed this couple hugging, at the bus stop.
No, not the normal, I'll miss you, goodbye kind of hug.
They were hugging for about the full 3 minutes that the bus stayed at that bus stop.
Think along the lines of typical Chinese romance drama where the couple stands and talks for hours before deciding to forgive each other and hug, and you won't be imagining too far from the scene itself.
But without the rain, in this scene.
Every single auntie on that unfortunate bus turned and gaped (in amazement, I bet)
And some were hiding sniggers behind their hands.
And yet others were pointing and laughing out loud.
I don't understand why the couple did what they did.
But maybe, sometimes in love,

My grandmother is an undiscovered superwoman with the uncanny ability to whip up a feast from practically nothing.
And I'm not even exaggerating.
I'd like to think that my grandmother is the best and most special grandmother in the world.
But I've come to realise that grandmothers in general, belong to a different species altogether.
I went to the airport last week; just me and my 73 year old grandmother.
So I was bored. And rather angry that I had to sacrifice a full day of studying just to escort her.
The waves of guilt that kept washing over me as I held those thoughts in my head were priceless.
I sat next to her on the bus, ears plugged in to the soothing vocals of Buble; hoping in earnest that his sexy voice would melt my feelings of discontent.
And she just sat next to the window, gazing outdoors, saying nothing.
Having spent most of her life indoors, big sudden changes in the landscape overwhelms her.
And she confused Tanah merah MRT station with Bedok,
to which I snapped "Bedok is just across the road from our house! How can that be Bedok??"
She replied with a silent "oh" and continued gazing out the window.
I wanted to slap myself in the face for saying that.
Don't get me wrong, I love my grandmother.
Too much at times.
Because the problem with people you love unconditionally, you tend to forget about them, forget how much they mean to you... until you lose them.
Just thinking of life without my grandmother is enough to give me nightmares.
and so, for the rest of that bus journey, I bit my tongue.
My grandmother insisted on going to the airport to say her farewells to her sister who was going for a pilgrimage.
All the while, I was checking my watch, calculating how much time I had left before meeting my friends at 6.
And my mind was clouded with the foreboding image of an incomplete School Graduation Certificate draft which was due the next day.
Needless to say, 2 hours after we came, I insisted that we leave, at 3.30pm.
I was unsure if I could squeeze in an hour to complete the SGC.
She was hesitant.
She wanted to wait till the flight took off. She wanted to see her sister fly safely off.
But again, my egocentric self, stepped in.
I checked my watch, it was already 4pm.
And she finally decided that her sister would take a long time, what with the travel agents making routine checks and all.
As we walked away from the myriad of people clad in religious garments, she held my arm tightly.
Which I believed could be attributed to habit rather than instability.
Every few metres, she would turn back, and wonder aloud, "How long will they take?"
"When are they going in?" "Maybe we should wait awhile?"
Slowly, with her iron grip on my arm, I led her away.
Again, I checked my watch, I was running late.
And then she said, she feels like eating at Popeye's.
I was late.
I knew I would not have enough time to finish that godforsaken piece of self-appraisal called the SGC.
But I figured, this time, I should relent.
I grudgingly led her to the place, and we shared a 2 pc meal in silence, my grandmother and I.
She let me have the bigger piece, to which I exclaimed jokingly, "Nek! You want me to grow fat!"
She gave me one of her adorable toothy smiles and offered to share the huge piece with me.
In the end, I was late.
I had to write my SGC while getting ready to go out.
I combed my hair while typing.
But it was all worth it.
That one simple meal.
Just me and my grandmother.

How many of us have a friend or two who wants to marry a rich man and become a tai-tai?
Too many, believe me.
But seriously though, it ain't easy to become a tai tai.
Firstly, one would have to be unscrupulously conniving.
Every single second of one's time with one's partner, one would have to be devising ways and means to suck him dry. (I mean, financially, of course)
One would have to always put up a front.
Smile all the time, grin when one feel like slapping him across the face.
In other words, extreme self-control.
Of which, most people I know have none.
Secondly, one should have to have the conviction to go all out for one's cause.
One cannot afford to stop and have moral dilemmas.
One's cause and mission is always more important that moral repercussions.
One cannot consider the morality; i.e. the good and bad of one's actions, and focus instead on the consequences the actions have on one's so-called chosen path in life.
And lastly, the most important rule, always play on the sexual drive of one's partner.
Seduction, girl, never underestimate the power of seduction!
This ranges from as simple as a distant, vacant look in the eyes to going all out, and uh, you catch the drift.
Incomplete sentences such as "I want .... " or "I'd like to ..." drives them mad.
Or at least, according to Audrey Tautou in Priceless. X)
To be perfectly honest, most of the aspiring taitais I know have not the immorality to go all out as Irene did in Priceless.
Priceless overshadowed Shrek3 by like 3 times over.

I've been going to school nearly everyday this past week
But I realised one thing;
Studying in school is nearly always ineffective.
Namely because,
- I'm too tired to concentrate.
- I'm too distracted by people walking all around me.
- I'm too distracted by Deena.
- I've food in front of me / I don't have food in front of me.
Oh. But Deena's aunt's muffins rocked ass!
Just look at the perfect little thing!
Tempts the tastebud too much, I tell you!
And then I tried to put 'icing' on it. (:
The icing was a peanut butter/ jam spread that Deena was corrupting with her spoonful of saliva.
Turns out rather gross looking.
But we were daammnn intrigued by the bridge it formed.
And more than irritated that it refused to stay on the muffin, at first. -.-
But anyhow, don't judge a book by its cover!

I had a sneakpeak at some heavenly ass when I headed to vivo after 'studying'.
Okay yes, I was supposed to consult my math teacher but shopping is a pressing issue!

As I was saying.

And it was surrounded by swarms of people all wanting to take a snapshot of it.

Well anyway, I went a-walking with my sister and cousin.
And ma sista was playin' the rich bitch. (:
She was spending so much money, and shopping so much, I felt ecstatic just watching her do it!
A pretty shirt in a pretty bag for another friend.
